Brock's Gap Intermediate/ Assistant Principal

Today is the very first day of the rest of my life. I have been given this day to use as I will. I can waste it, or use it for good. But, what I do today is important. Because, I am exchanging a day of my life for it….

Greetings! My name is Jeff Singer, and it is my pleasure to serve as your assistant principal here at Brock's Gap. Although new to BG, I am not new to Hoover City Schools. Prior to joining The Brock's Gap Family, I served in administration with the Green Valley Family (S3R! Later, gator.) for seven years, and the South Shades Crest Family (Learn it. Live it. Everyday!) for three years. Before that, I taught Language Arts in grades 6-8 at Simmons Middle School (Go Bucs!) for ten years. I have learned much, and am appreciative of each experience.

I am the proud product of Birmingham City Schools, graduating from Ramsay High School. I attained my bachelor’s degree from The University of Montevallo, and both my master’s and educational specialist degrees from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

I enjoy working with Mr. Mitchell, Ms. Pate, and the entire BG Family. The collaborative mindset is high, and efforts are laser focused on meeting the needs of our friends (students). Serving here is a reunion of sorts, as I have work with several family members, previously. I am humbled and grateful to be part.

During my tenure, I have worked with many friends. I have collaborated with parent and community stakeholders in an effort to meet diverse needs. I welcome the occasion to continue that work here at Brock's Gap. My goal is to encourage our friends to show what they know, by meeting and modeling the expectations of being safe, respectful, responsible, and resourceful (S3R) each and everyday; everywhere they go.

My wife, Wanda, have been married for fifteen years. The greatest accomplishments we will ever achieve are our children, Cornelius, Jordan, and Joshua. I am granddude to Ellis, Maverick, and Wynn.

Perhaps one of the greatest joys I have received as an educator, is seeing former students (whom I refer to as young’uns), return to visit me as adults, hiring some for teaching positions, and now having the occasion to work with their children.

I look forward to opportunities for us to work, learn, and grow together.
